June 17 VacationProject of the week I'm having trouble settling on a project. I've started a few, but this seems to be the one I'm sticking with lately: ![]() I think I started it because I made a mistake a few rows back, and now have to rip out a thousand or so stitches on this one: ![]() I can only bring myself to do it for about 15 minutes at a time, and then must put it down, or risk crying. May 18 Busy Days and Spring Flowers I've not posted very much lately, but I have been a bit busy. Three weekends ago, I went to Chestnut Hill College's Honors Convocation, and found out that I had won the Sister Matthew Anita MacDonald Award in recognition of my academics, leadership and community service. It was so wonderful to have my family with me as I was recognized for my achievements. Two weekends ago, I attended graduation, where I was awarded my degree in Mathematics. My brother came all the way from California to celebrate with me (and play with Gabe)! I even managed to get some knitting done. ![]() This past weekend, we bought lots of lovely flowers to brighten up the campsite. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() April 22 Announcing Higher Ed Camp PhillyHigherEdCamp is a one day un-conference connecting communities involved in higher education technology. It will take place on Saturday June 6th at the University of Pennsylvania. Attendance is completely free. HigherEdCamp is about innovating education through an understanding of emerging technologies, adoption of open standards, and participation in evolving communication channels. Colleges and universities
face a challenging economic environment. The pace of technological development
is not slowing down. We’ll be gathering together technologists, administrators,
faculty, students, and researchers from all over the Philadelphia area and
beyond for a day of open discussion on how we can innovate higher education and
the technology that powers it.
March 03 Current KnittingI'm making a sweater called Alyce from White Lies Designs. I'm using Classic Elite Premiere, which was purchased at Rosie's Yarn Cellar.
Here is the short row shaping on the back, and details of the leaf motifs.
February 23 Lots of Birthdays!Beth made Grandmom a marble cake with chocolate icing:
Andrew had his very own chocolate mousse cake with 22 candles in it:
If we had put a candle for each year, there would have been 161 candles lit!
February 18 Lots of LoveThis wonderful, yummy dessert was made by following the Fork You Quick Fork: Quick and easy Mousse Warning: it is very rich and a little goes a long way. Gabe is growing so fast, it's hard to believe that he's 3 months old now. He loves to sing along with his Pop pop, even if he can't make words yet. January 08 What I did over winter breakDecember 12 Out of this World Cookie Time!December 11 Holiday PartyYesterday was the Wharton Computing Holiday Open house. Our theme this year was candy, featuring chocolate. It was yummy and fun!
I created a wordle of the wishes that were included with the rsvps- here's one of them:
Setting up for the party:
"Let's get this party started!"
Candygram story telling:
It was so much fun!
There are more photos, including some from years past, in my online photos: http://cid-703132bb0e26086b.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/WCIT%20Holiday%202008 August 18 VacationAhh, lots of relaxing and knitting. I finished my embossed leaves socks:
And cast on a quick knitting pair of campfire socks (to be put away until colder weather).
Jordan joined us from Wednesday till Saturday, and had lots of fun eating strawberries,
building with an erector set, and going to the Strasburg Railroad. On Saturday, his mom and Chris
came up and we all went to Herseypark! More pictures to come soon.
And for all of you out there that don't think we have to rough it - I found I didn't have a pan for my cornbread,
and so Bob fashioned me one out of tin foil:
August 01 A List Apart SurveyI just took a survey for People Who Make Websites, and it was great to step back and reflect on just how great my job is. If you do web work, you should take a minute or two to fill it out. Just click below to get started. July 28 Cutie PiesJuly 18 Late nightThose of you who know me realize I usually have a very early bedtime (8 pm is not unheard of!) - But last night I stayed up until 11 to watch
One of the highlights of the night (besides the Who and Pearl Jam) was Adam Sandler's performance:
July 03 Summer School has wiped me outI went to knitting circle last night at Rosies Yarn Cellar. It was Mindy's last night with us before moving. I cannot believe how tired I look. Good thing I have a vacation coming up. June 25 Crime and Punishment Museum, Washington, DC
The networking event for CFUnited was an evening at the Crime and Punishment museum. I was a bit disappointed after having been to the museum in Rothenburg, Germany, which has authentic medieval tourture devices - this was a lot of hollywood (the Bonnie and Clyde death car turned out to be from the movie -- there was the gun that Pacino used in Scarface). I prefer authentic history. Me and Bob in the stockade In an old west jail In a police lineup Bob and Adam Bell in jail: Me breaking out of jail The only way I'll ever drive a motorcycle (it's bolted to the floor!) Here is us on a tv screen (pretending to be on America's most wanted!) May 27 Memorial Day weekend funWe took Friday off and went to the Green Dragon Flea Market.
We picked up these cute frogs and an Eagle's flag.
After chilling with Beth and Andrew on Sunday, the whole gang came up for a cookout on Monday. Krista made an awesome apple pie. If she posts the recipe, I will add a link to it (hint, hint). There are lots more pictures in photos under "Memorial Day 2008" .
Dillon being cute as always:
Jordan getting ready to go to the pool. Zack, Kelly and Beth around the campfire.
